Established for over 150 years, Crossling Ltd are the North of England’s largest independent Plumbing & Pipeline Merchants with their head office based in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Having 15 branches across the North from Dumfries to Sheffield I was appointed Head of Marketing to develop a corporate website for the business and bring the company online.
Having reviewed their brand guidelines I began the process of researching the company’s background and current customer base to gain knowledge of how the
digital presence would be of benefit to the end user and how to approach building the brand online.
Through customer survey and meeting with staff and Directors of the company I formed an idea of where to begin the journey. The main goals of the project were:
Create a reputable online presence
Attract new business
Provide an easy way to discover your nearest branch
Working with the in-house design team and a local development company we created a brochure style website to act as a calling card for any potential customer who may be searching for a local merchant. I set up the social media accounts that would support the consumer in giving them updates on special offer and events as well as strengthening Crossling’s reputation and web presence.
Once the site was live we decided to launch a range of e-commerce sites which would target several different product areas and to a domestic audience otherwise out of reach by a merchant. These took the form of the Crossling Radiator & Crossling Assisted Living websites.
The new additions allowed an increase of revenue via direct online sales and building relationships with customers who would have might have otherwise not shopped with Crossling.
